Quick Price

Available onEstimatorBuilder

When someone wants a number this week, Quick Price gets you from floor areas to a price the client can read, without pricing every line. It is a preliminary price, to be confirmed by a full estimate, and the client document says so.

It is off for every company until asked for: tell SmarteBuild and we will switch it on for yours.

When Quick Price is on for your company, the estimate templates include Quick Sales Estimate versions, for a single and a double storey house. Make a new estimate from one and the Bill of Quantities opens with the Quick Price panel up on the right. Quick Price on the BOQ toolbar opens and closes it.

1. Floor areas. Type them, or measure them on the drawing in Take-Off. Either way the price follows.

2. Six questions.

Question What it moves
How many bathrooms? A bathroom’s fittings, tiling and plumbing
What is the site like? The slab and site works
What roof? The roof line
What outside walls? Bricks, cladding, render and outside painting
What ceiling height? Frame, bricks, plaster and painting
What finish level? Kitchens, bathrooms, floors and fittings

3. Your rates. Once you have three past jobs with a floor area, Use my past jobs’ rates reprices every line from them. It replaces each line’s price and quantity, including any you have changed, so it asks first. Undo: back to the starting rates puts every line back as it was. Until then the panel tells you how many past jobs you have.

4. Prices we need from you. Lines with no price are listed here. Enter what each will cost on this job, so the total is not short.

The panel keeps the Price to the client, inc GST, the Cost, ex GST and the Cost per m² in view, and shows where the job sits against the middle half of your past jobs.

Make the client document opens the client tender. If anything still has no price, it names those lines and asks before going on.

Everything Quick Price changes is ordinary estimate data, so the grid and the client tender simply read it. The answers to the questions are carried by Adjustment lines on the estimate, which add their percentages to the total.

Finish first. The Adjustment lines keep adding their percentages on top of real prices until you do.

Finish Quick Price switches the Adjustment lines off, without deleting them. Every other line stays as it is, and the answers stop changing the price. Bring Quick Price back switches them on again and they add to the total again. A finished estimate only counts as one of your past jobs once the job has also moved past the sales stage.
